This was a fairly good movie. I liked the concept and I classify it as unique. Of course there is a big thread on wiki about a number of stories with a similar premise. The list includes a 60’s episode of Dr. Who. I bring that up because it’s a British show and if it was about the Beatles that was very modern at the time. This movie is more a of a love story. If I could fault it I would go with the lack of pushing the theme more, “Duty to make sure the world experiences the music of the Beatles.” In the end they do offer the idea that a world without their music isn’t a world anyone who knew their music would want to live in. They pushed the romance more. This is a very good romantic movie. I wish they looked at the model of Rocketman and or Bohemian Rhapsody to get the story of becoming a rockstar right. Sometimes it felt a little bubble gum. It also had the romantic comedy cliches that is reflected in the score. Normally I think Kate McKinnon is brilliant but she was miscast in this film because they wanted to hit all the comedy tropes. They also could have improved the story by rewriting that character. I was left annoyed that they never discussed money or contracts being that he was becoming the biggest rockstar of all time. If you want a silly comedy this is a film for you. The best thing about this movie besides Beatles music is the performance of Himesh Patel.
